There are more than 20 million whitetail deer in the wild in North America. They are considered by many to be the most beautiful and intelligent of the deer species. Recently a number of jurisdictions permitted raising this species on farms and ranches and the number of these animals is rapidly increasing. Whitetails come in different colours including brown, white (see fawn on right) and piebald (spotted).
